«MOX» appeared in 1998. Mikhail Salnikov — the drummer, who previously played in such bands as «Aerodinamica» and «SUP» (1995-97), showed his first computer works to the legendary soundengineer Nick Artamonov. Nick advised to show them to the head of «Exotica» association Andrey Borisov. In 2001 the lounge compilation «Tell Tschaikowski The News, Vol.2» was issued on Exotica label. In there was MOX’s track «Bassett». It was the beginning of the story of MOX. In the same year the album «Music for Healing Gnomes» was created. Romantic and narcotic trip, influenced by such composers as Steve Reich and Harold Budd. The first official release of MOX is «Insects» (Exotica, 2002). Material for album was selected by Andrey Borisov.The release was sponsored by Olga Filippova and Alexander Chervakov, who subsequently run Untime Records label. «Insects» has submitted an wide spectrum of Salnikov’s likes — dub, IDM, trip-hop, Warp-wise electronica, big-beat, house, minimalism and ambient. In the same year Salnikov launched Poostosh and joined Riddim Killers. 2003 — MOX’s tracks appeared in two compilations and in joint album of Alexei Borisov and KK Null in their interpretation. Also the first MOX’s performance took place in now closed club «Muha». It was made real with support of Sergey Karapetyan and Katerina Mihaylina. Closer to the end of year, Salnikov and NetLenka (Ethnica Music Project) began recording of «OMUT» album — dark and sometimes eclectic alloy of AphexTwin-wise/dubby electronica with pagan/slavic vocal stories about mermaids of Netlenka . Album’s co-producer Nick Artamonov has found such balance with which 2 elements (background and vocal) exist as if parallel lines, emphisizing each other and creating bizarre and attractive world. Album was released on Megaliner Records in 2004. 2004 — start of collaboration with label from Chicago — Monstaar Records; QUTH project (post-industrial, dark ambient) emerged — the conceptual dilogy was released — «The Birth…» and «The Death Of The Worm» — sombre exploration of cold dimensions. Also a notional continuation of «Music For…» was completed — album MOX «Sistrum». 2005 — In February Nick Artamonov died — guru and very talented sound engineer, to a name of whom was related a sound work on a most number of MOX tracks by that time. Rust in Peace. Monstaar issues one more album of QUTH «White Mirror» — ethereal, not so dark as previous works of QUTH. On a newly organized label Untime Records was released the first album of Poostosh. OGI Records gave birth to split-album of Petya Goryev and Alexander Delphinov, where Riddim Killers tracks were imposed too. Sketis Music releases remix album of VOLGA with one MOX’s remix. 2006 — album of Tooth Kink (noise-project of members of Poostosh and Alexei Borisov) was released on Monstaar. Ibidem, the joint-project of MOX and poet Alexander Delphinov publishes their debut album «MOX_Delphinov». On Dars Records compilation came out, where one track from «OMUT» can be found. The tribute to Nick Artamonov was compiled by Igor Kolyadny (Species Of Fishes, Planktone Records) with two MOX’s tracks in it. In august Mikhail Salnikov has moved to London.
