«Poostosh» appeared in 2002 in Moscow, more exactly in The Central House of Actors. Initially the name of the project was Dark Brigade (2002). The main musicians are Mikhail Salnikov (MOX, QUTH), Andrey Kovalenko and Andrey Gavrilov («Bludny syn»(«Prodigal Son»), «Mosty» («The Bridges»), ex «Silence Kit»), who joined them later. The aim of the project is creating instrumental works in a process of spontaneous improvisation.
The first album was recorded in 2002 and named simply Poostosh. The styles of the album are lo-fi ambient, noise, free improvisation. In 2003 «Aipon» (anagram of word «piano») was made. The music was played mostly on piano, using two or four hands. The album was influenced by such masters as Erik Satie, Wim Mertens and Harold Budd. The next album is «Untime»(recorded in 2002-03, issued in 2005). It starts the new label Untime Records. It is also the first joint work with Andrey Gavrilov. The name of the album means something,which is opposite to a process of time. There is a lot of guitar presence, in general the album resembles an soundtracks for non-existent movies. The music of Penguin Cafe Orchestra, production of such labels as 4AD and Project and some works of Harold Budd influenced on music and sound of «Untime». On the concerts the group is collaborating with Anton Fomin («SUP», «Ionov I tochka»(«Ionov and The Dot»), Tatyana Mikhina, Mikhail Gomelauri, Vitaliy Chaplin ( «Bludny syn»(«Prodigal Son») «Mosty»(«The Bridges»), Dmitriy Kanunnikov (ex «Bosch s toboy» («Bosch with You»)), Sergey Karapetyan («Riddim Killers») and Katerina Mikhailina. |
